Construction Pedro Islas & Francisco Almazan

Located in the Mexican countryside, the house stand as a rational composition facing the majestic mountains. Every module of the house, from the inside, the terrace or the balconies, holds a specific relationship with the view.
The concrete structure, asserting the identity of the project, is handcrafted with wooden formwork, giving the concrete an organic texture. The local terracotta floor tiles bring a contrasting warm tone, as do the interior walls covered with natural lime plaster. In the bathrooms, the coper pipelines made by local artisan remain exposed. Every doors and windows are handmade on site.
With the intention to highlight local and handcrafted materials, the design also incorporates exterior walls of volcanic stone from the area. The surrounding garden, composed of endemic and aromatic species, creates continuity with the mountain vegetation, as a wish to remove boundaries and connect directly with the mountains.
